In the 1970s–1980s, GOLDBLOCK tobacco ran a promotion: you’d buy three tins, send in proof of purchase, and then you got the chance to buy a Peterson pipe made exclusively for that promo. There was no other way to get one.

Seeing a GOLDBLOCK in the wild is rare enough. Seeing one in unsmoked condition — especially as a set with the original promo tin and the original box, and having it available for purchase… that’s on an astronomical level.

Even though this is an unsmoked pipe, I still have some notes on the condition. Those gold-plated nickel ferrules were notorious for having weak plating — most examples I have seen had lost their plating completely. This one still has it partially, but this also means there is some oxidation left. If you want it completely polished and cleaned, let me know after the purchase and I can do it, but all gold plating will be lost at that point.

My last note is a very positive one — the Gold Blocks are pipes with a high collectability value, but they were not high grades and usually had quite a lot of fills. This one is very different… the briar grade is actually very impressive: very lightweight, nice grain, and almost no flaws.

The pipes go through one final check before shipping, so if you notice any inconsistencies in the carnauba finish or smudges they will be taken care of before your pipe is shipped to you.
