You will see a lot of rare Peterson pipes on this site, but very few will be as rare as this one… The “Special” line is one of the most sought after and rare “lines” out there. Honestly, I wouldn’t even call it a line, because the Special Petes are seen more as individual pipes rather than a line.

Whenever you see this stamp, it means a handmade pipe made to order, or for a special occasion or event. Those pipes were made by the most skilled pipe masters at Peterson, and most of the time by Paddy Larrigan himself… R.I.P Paddy.

When it comes to the grade, I would put them at the highest tier, next to the De Luxe and Supremes.

Having worked on even one of those jewels in Peterson’s crown is a great honor to me.

Although the stamp and the title of this pipe lean towards a Pre-Republic era pipe, I will be completely transparent and say that the “Made in Ireland” stamp could have easily been used in the early Republic era, at the same time it is also possible this pipe is from an earlier era, especially for a “Special”.

The pipes go through one final check before shipping, so if you notice any inconsistencies in the carnauba finish or smudges they will be taken care of before your pipe is shipped to you.
