When I got the pipe, even though it was smoked just a few times, the black lacquer finish on the rim was already starting to chip off. Once I cleaned it for re-staining, I noticed it actually revealed a magnificent stain and grain (very similar to Dunhill’s Dress finish).

I couldn’t bring myself to cover it back up with black stain.
