The bent Rhodesian is a lot of people’s favourite pipe shape, and it was also mine for the longest time. It is still one of the most attractive shapes for me, but since I am on a big straight pipes kick right now, I decided to part with this beauty and let someone else enjoy it.

You might be wondering what the “John Bull” stands for. Well, the 999 shape didn’t always look like the modern 999s — it actually went through quite a few iterations, but everyone agrees that the best one is the old “John Bull”.

This was Peterson’s very successful attempt at making a very English-looking shape. With its extra chubby bowl, short shank, perfect stem curve, and extremely well-defined P-Lip, this is not only a rare old Pete with collectible value, but also a superb smoker and one of the most comfortable pipes I have had.

The MADE IN IRELAND block format stamp, in addition to other signs, puts it firmly in the 40s.

The pipes go through one final check before shipping, so if you notice any inconsistencies in the carnauba finish or smudges they will be taken care of before your pipe is shipped to you.
