Let’s start tonight’s Petersons with something special — a chubby straight billiard from the very first release of the Antique Collection in 1995. Pipes from this series are essentially faithful recreations of old and long-discontinued shapes, this one originally dating back to 1905.

Despite its relatively short length, the bowl is quite large and has a lot of presence. The closest pipe I own personally is a smaller straight apple army from 1922, and I have to say the 1995 Antique release absolutely does the old originals justice. It captures the feel, proportions, and charm of the early Peterson designs extremely well.

Even though the A3 grade allows for things like this, I want to mention that there is a small dent on the front of the bowl near the rim. I noticed it during restoration and decided to leave it as-is rather than remove material unnecessarily.
