Every now and then I stumble upon one of those Peterson lines that makes me wonder how many other interesting releases are still hiding somewhere completely under the radar…

This time we have the Cork. According to Mark Irwin’s Peterson Pipe Notes, this was a very rare, higher-grade line produced around 2000 specifically for the European market.

What makes the Cork especially interesting to me is that it is yet another one of those Peterson lines sitting very close to Supreme territory. We have high-grade briar with a beautiful natural finish, but what really completes the look is the amber-like acrylic stem with its gold/brass P inlay.

On the iconic 999 shape, that combination just works incredibly well. The warm natural briar, amber-like stem and tiny gold detail all fit together without making the pipe look overly flashy.

The more I research these obscure European-market Peterson releases, the more interesting that period of the company becomes to me. There were quite a few extremely high-grade pipes being produced outside of the better-known lines, and the Cork is a perfect example.

Condition note: there is a tiny darker uneven spot on the inside of the rim.

The pipes go through one final check before shipping, so if you notice any inconsistencies in the carnauba finish or smudges they will be taken care of before your pipe is shipped to you.
