Bjørn Thurmann is one of those Danish makers whose pipes just have an incredible amount of personality, and this particular Fox is probably one of my favourite examples of that.

This is actually one of my personal pipes and one that I have always found extremely attractive. The shape itself is still very much a Volcano, but when you look at the top of the bowl, that sharp and almost thin-looking silhouette immediately reminds me of a fox’s snout. Once you see it, the name “Fox” just makes perfect sense.

If you know me, you also know how much I love partial sandblasts. When they are done properly, you basically get the best of both worlds and, even more importantly, the two finishes make each other look better. On this pipe we have beautiful straight grain running through the smooth sections, immediately contrasted by the much rougher and more organic sandblast.

It is one of those pipes where I don’t think any single detail is responsible for making it beautiful — it is the way the shape, grain and different textures all work together. Definitely one that I am going to have a hard time seeing leave my personal collection…

The pipes go through one final check before shipping, so if you notice any inconsistencies in the carnauba finish or smudges they will be taken care of before your pipe is shipped to you.
