If you ever wondered what is the best Peterson has to offer, you are looking at it right now…

Very similar to the extremely rare “Special” line, the Private Selection Hand Cut is not a regular Peterson factory pipe… it is actually a completely handmade pipe, and with a bit of luck those are usually carved by Paddy Larrigan, the legend himself!

The Private Selection and Premier Selection pipes are basically custom order pipes from Huber Munich. They are always some of the highest grade pipes Peterson has to offer at the time, very similar to the Supreme grade in my experience. They are sometimes also pipes which Peterson doesn’t have in their catalog, or at least not the specific combination.

I have worked on a few Private Selection spigots, but I have seen a Hand Cut pipe only twice — the first one is currently one of my favourite Petersons that I own, and I was hoping to keep this one too. But after I saw it was unsmoked, I knew I had to follow my rules and pass it on to someone who would appreciate such a rare pipe, being 36 years old and still brand new.

By the way, this is the original box, even though it says 68 on it — most tobacconists just pick up a random box and write on the label.

The pipes go through one final check before shipping, so if you notice any inconsistencies in the carnauba finish or smudges they will be taken care of before your pipe is shipped to you.
