This system has a vulcanite tenon extension, rather than a condenser. If I had to speculate on the manufacturing date, I would say late 30s or the 40s.
One more pipe is leaving my collection and this one is one of my favourite Petes – it’s an English made 314 in an extraordinary condition. I love how short and bent those old 314 stems were – this makes the pipe extremely comfortable to clench.
Interesting here is also the grade – we have the System stamp, but no number underneath it and from what I understand, this detail in combination with the silver ferrule means it is a “First quality” grade, putting it right under the De Luxe grade which was the absolute top during that era.
Even though English Petes were manufactured from 1937-1960, this one is for sure a pre 1948 pipe, due to the stamps and ferrule design.
The pipes go through one final check before shipping, so if you notice any inconsistencies in the carnauba finish or smudges they will be taken care of before your pipe is shipped to you.
