Usually, when it comes to English pipe brands, their golden age ends once they were acquired by Cadogan around the 1980s, but the terms pre- and post-Cadogan don’t apply in quite the same way to BBB…

They were part of Cadogan as early as the 1920s or 30s, but were left with quite a lot of independence up until 1985, when Cadogan consolidated the production of brands like BBB, GBD and Comoy’s in their newly acquired modern factory, previously owned by Orlik.

This doesn’t automatically mean bad-quality pipes with fills… As you can see from this example, we have flawless briar and a wonderful pipe.

Condition note: usually I like to leave a thin layer of cake in the pipes I restore, but this one came to me after someone else had worked on it. I wouldn’t call it overreamed, but it is still worth noting that you can see light briar on the inside.

The pipes go through one final check before shipping, so if you notice any inconsistencies in the carnauba finish or smudges they will be taken care of before your pipe is shipped to you.
