Another very rare Peterson is ready to leave my personal collection: the Peterson GOLDBLOCK 314.

A lot goes into whether a pipe earns a spot in my collection, but the two biggest factors are simple: it has to be an outstanding smoker, and it has to be “special.” That second part is hard to explain… but this one is the perfect example.

In the 1970s–1980s, GOLDBLOCK tobacco ran a promotion: you’d buy three tins, send in proof of purchase, and then you got the chance to buy a Peterson pipe made exclusively for that promo. There was no other way to get one.

Seeing a GOLDBLOCK in the wild is rare enough. Seeing one in this condition—especially as a full set with all three tins, including the one with the promotional text—and having it available for purchase… that’s on an astronomical level.
