When it comes to Italian pipes there is one brand that just speaks to me in a completely different way, and that’s Viprati. From the intricate designs to the perfect briar, these pipes are truly among the best in the world. Luigi started the Salvador Dalí Collection in 2003, creating a very limited number of pipes each year inspired by famous Dalí paintings. This pipe is the third design in the series and takes its inspiration from the “melting clocks.”

Here comes the one downside: the decorative silver clock cap is missing. It’s only decorative and not used while smoking, but it is missing — and that’s the only reason I’m letting this pipe go. I really tried my best to hunt the cap down, but had no luck. I even considered having a jeweler make a replica, but realistically I won’t have the time for that project anytime soon.

What makes me even sadder is the fact that Luigi Viprati passed away earlier this year, and with him this tradition ends as well. A huge loss for the pipe world. RIP L. Viprati.
