The Premier is probably my favourite Peterson grade. In most cases it is basically a flawless De Luxe, but made in one of Peterson’s standard shapes, sitting directly below the De Luxe in the grading hierarchy.

This one gets even more interesting because it is a NOS Straight System 31 from 1990. The straight Systems are discontinued today, and Shape 31 itself disappeared from the catalog in 2018 after an incredibly long production run. It first appeared in the 1945 catalog and was the last straight System shape Peterson kept in regular production.

The engineering is also very different from what most people imagine when they think of a Peterson System. We still have the well and P-Lip principle, but here everything is packed into a compact straight billiard. This Premier also has the long aluminium condenser / tenon extension, which is part of the higher-grade System engineering and was used on Premier and De Luxe pipes after the earlier bone versions.

The pipes go through one final check before shipping, so if you notice any inconsistencies in the carnauba finish or smudges they will be taken care of before your pipe is shipped to you.
